What Kind of Personality Types have Narcissism?

There are almost 10  personality types of narcissism. Narcissism is a personality disorder characterized by an excessive or grandiose sense of self-importance, often accompanied by a lack of empathy for others. While there are many different types of narcissism, some of the most common include:

1. Self-promotion narcissism

This type of narcissism focuses on the individual’s success and pleasure. They may feel entitled to special treatment and privileges and view themselves as superior to others.

2. Entitlement narcissism

This type of narcissism is focused on the belief that they are deserving of special treatment and privileges, regardless of their achievements. They may feel that they are owed everything and become angry or resentful if they don’t receive what they believe they’re entitled to.

3. Self-defeating narcissism

This type of narcissism is characterized by a tendency to be self-critical and addictive, meaning that they are often drawn to situations or people that will make them feel good for a short period but eventually damage or destroy their self-esteem. They may also be impersonalizing and devaluing others, meaning they see them as being less than human.

4. Mirroring narcissism

This type of narcissism is characterized by a need to be constantly acknowledged and praised and a tendency to project their characteristics and needs onto others to feel accepted. They may also be excessively idealizing and romanticizing their relationships, seeing them as perfect even when not.

5. Catastrophic narcissism

This type of narcissism is characterized by a marked lack of empathy for others, a need to be the center of attention, and a belief that everything that goes wrong in their life is someone else’s fault. They may also be promiscuous and reckless with their safety, believing that they are invincible.

6. Self-defeating entitlement

This type of narcissism is characterized by a sense of entitlement. They believe that they deserve special treatment and privileges regardless of the consequences. They may also be demanding and have a high opinion of themselves, seeing themselves as superior to others.

7. Grandiose narcissism

This type of narcissism is characterized by a belief that they are superior to others in every way and a tendency to exaggerate their abilities and achievements. They may also be boastful and arrogant, feeling entitled to special treatment and mistreating others without consequence.

8. Narcissistic regression

This type of narcissism is characterized by a return to immature or dependent behaviors to maintain a sense of control or get someone else to admire them. They may also be reckless and unwise with their resources, believing that they can get away with anything.

9. Self-loathing

This type of narcissism is characterized by a deep sense of self-hatred, which means that they believe that they are worthless and not worth anything. They may also be ashamed of their own body, sexuality, emotions, and feelings to hide them all away.

Characteristics of Narcissists

  1. Grandiosity: Believe they are above average in every way and treat themselves as if they are owed something.
  2. Narcissistic entitlement: Believe they are owed special privileges and treatment and demand it without consequence.
  3.  Need for admiration: Believe they deserve admiration and treat others poorly to maintain a sense of superiority.
  4. Arrogance: Feel they are superior to others and act like it, speaking down to those around them.
  5. Exploitation: Take advantage of others for their gain, often without remorse or guilt.
  6.  Entitlement: Believe they are owed things simply because they exist and refuse to give anything back.
  7.  Shaming: Shame others by calling them out in public or making them feel guilty about their achievements.
  8. Violence: Threaten, assault, or even kill those who get in their way or who they think are insulting them.
